Recognised by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC)

Aim

To provide personnel involved in Healthcare or frequently exposed to first aid situations with the knowledge and skill to recognise cardiac arrest, perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Training Objectives

  • Recognise Cardiac Arrest

  • Perform CPR 1 & 2 rescuer

  • Use of Face Mask

  • Use an AED

  • Recognise Choking and Treatment of Choking

  • Assess Stokes (FAST) and Treatment

  • Place patient in Recovery position

  • Administer Aspirin

  • Critical Incident Stress Awareness

  • Understand Legal Indemnity Issues

Course Syllabus

  • Recognition of Heart Attack, Cardiac Arrest and Stroke

  • Scene Assessment

  • CPR 1 & 2 rescuers

  • Basic Life Support for Adults, Children & Infants

  • Use of Face masks

  • AED Use

  • Administration of Asprin

  • Recognition and Relieving of Choking

Course Duration

3 – 4 hours

Certification

All successful candidates will be certified in CPR and AED use through PHECC.
Certification is valid for 2 years from date of issue, thereafter subject to re-certification.
