Aim:
To provide responding personnel with the knowledge and skill to recognise a cardiac arrest, perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Training Objectives:
On completion of this course participants will be able to:
Recognise Cardiac Arrest
Perform CPR
Use an AED
Recognise Choking and Treatment
Know the steps to take to assist a choking victim
Course Syllabus:
Scene Assessment
CPR
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Adults & Children
Use of Infection Barrier Devices
AED
Choking
Infant CPR included on request
Course Duration: 3 – 3.5 hours
Certification:
All successful candidates will be certified in CPR and AED through the Irish Heart Foundation
(IHF). Certification is valid for 2 years from date of issue, thereafter subject to re-certification.
